Tableau invites AWC to participate in “Fremont Women in Technology Meetup”

The Fremont Women in Technology Meetup has invited members of the Association for Women in Computing (AWC) for an evening of networking with other women in technology who live or work in the Fremont neighborhood.  There is no charge for this event, but you do need to register.

The Presentations

(1) Visual Analysis Best Practices - presented by Amanda Pype

Are you doing the most for your data? Learn about the cycle of visual analysis and some of the best practices for communicating with data.

(2) Extreme Makeover: Viz Edition - presented by Kate Hotler & Amanda Pype

Put into action what you've learned in the first presentation:  See how to turn a good viz into a great viz! Participate in making use of visual best practices to turn confusing chart junk into works of analytical art.

The Speakers


Amanda Pype is a User Researcher at Tableau Software. She spends her time talking with customers and gaining insight on how people do visual analysis. She started life at Tableau training users, then switched to researching users. Amanda has helped develop and deliver courses on visual best practices and analytics having studied visual perception and cognition.


Kate Hotler is a User Experience Designer at Tableau Software. She works with the development team to help make Tableau even more useful, usable, and enjoyable. She has a strong interest in all aspects of design and its impact on the world in which we live; and a passion for making digital experiences as simple and elegant as possible.

1. Take Exit 169 toward NE 45th Street
2. Turn left onto NE 45th Street from off-ramp
3. Turn left at Stone Way N
4. Turn right at N 34th Street
5. You will see the Lake View Building on your left, just under the Aurora Bridge
6. Turn left at Troll Ave N
7. Turn right at N Northlake Way
8. Street parking is available around the Lake View Building

Parking

Parking will not be reimbursed for this event. Please park on the street or in one of the U-Park lots located near Tableau Software. Note that most of the lots are cash only and will range from $5.00 - $10.00. Do not park in the garage located under the building.
