Many of us with successful jobs in technology were fortunate enough to have been given an opportunity—whether through a mentor, a scholarship or other break— that helped put us on our career paths. Eventually, we look for ways to help others succeed as we have. This special AWC-PS event is all about understanding how we can “give back.”
Join us to learn about ways to help others through the Technology Access Foundation (TAF), Oikocredit, and Dress for Success Seattle. This is our final meeting before the summer break and includes the AWC-PS scholarship award. Additionally, please bring donations for the YWCA’s Dress for Success Seattle program (see specifics below).
Technology Access Foundation (TAF) is a local nonprofit organization that is transforming public education for students of color. Their mission is to see more students in Washington State public schools graduate from high school on time, attend college in science, technology, engineering and math-related fields and enter the workforce ready to be leaders and innovators in a technology-driven world.
Oikocredit is one of the world’s largest sources of private funding to the microfinance sector. They lend working capital to microfinance institutions all over the world, which dispense life-changing loans to the poor and disadvantaged. Oikocredit microfinance provides an unprecedented opportunity for empowering women in the developing world to take control of their own destinies.
Dress for Success Seattle is locally managed by YWCA. They promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support, and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
Dress for Success Accessories Drive
AWC is collecting career accessories for Dress for Success. Please bring new or gently used accessories such as purses, hosiery, and hygiene products.
