AWC Board Recruiting Event

We are hosting a public Board meeting this month, 6:30-8:00, on Wednesday, September 18 at Serials Solutions in Fremont.

Our mission is to foster professional relationships between men and women in the IT industry through outstanding monthly programs, online collaborative forums, partnerships with other IT and women’s organizations and frequent professional networking opportunities.

In order to realize our vision, we need more involvement from the IT community. This is where you come in! If you would like to become involved with a great IT non-profit, professional organization and make a difference in AWC, please join us on 9/18.

General Board Requirements

  • Attend designated monthly Board of directors meetings currently 1st Wednesday of each month
  • Attend most monthly dinner meetings currently 3rd Wednesday of each month
  • Attend annual retreat
  • Attend Holiday party in December
  • Be a paid member
  • Help publicize the organization and support overall organizational objectives

Open Board Roles

We need to staff many of our critical board roles. Here is a list of the roles that we would like to staff:

Marketing
2013-2014: Open
Specific Role Requirements

  • Establishes and implements the communications plan
  • Edits media announcements and press releases
  • Alerts media and organizational contacts about events and expands those relationships.
  • Updates media contact list.
  • Collaborates with Webmaster on updating web and eblast content and with Social Media Chair on social media communications and content.
  • Prepares overall branding direction and styleguide for all internal and external communications.

Skills: Experience with communications plan development and planning; solid and professional communicator; solid writer and editor; keen attention to detail

Time commitment: 2 to 4 hours/month plus meetings


Web Master
2013-2014: Open
Specific Role Requirements

  • Designs and updates web pages using HTML and customized templates
  • Posts meeting info and partner events
  • Creates announcements and e-blasts, unsubscribes bouncing emails, answers webmaster emails
  • Creates and sends surveys using survey tool, and reports results to BOD

Skills: Requires familiarity with basic web design concepts, but technical web developer experience is not necessary. Familiarity with basic HTML is helpful.

Time commitment: 2 to 4 hours/month plus meetings


Business Development and Corporate Liaison
2013-2014: Open
Specific Role Requirements

  • Works with Job Network chair on articulating AWC membership as an employer benefit
  • Develops and maintains corporate membership pricing and benefits
  • Develops marketing and informational materials to support corporate membership program
  • Represents AWC to general public and promotes AWC
  • Thinks creatively about new business partnerships for AWC

Skills: Good ties to the Puget Sound IT community; business relationship development experience; experience serving on a non-profit or professional organization board

Time commitment: 2 to 4 hours/month plus meetings


Fremont Liaison
2013-2014: Open
Specific Role Requirements

  • Business Development and Corporate Liaison Chair with a specific focus on Fremont companies
  • Develops and maintains corporate membership pricing and benefits
  • Develops marketing and informational materials to support corporate membership program
  • Represents AWC to general public and promotes AWC
  • Thinks creatively about new business partnerships for AWC

Skills: Good ties to the Puget Sound IT community, particularly Fremont neighborhood; business relationship development experience; experience serving on a non-profit or professional organization board

Time commitment: 2 to 4 hours/month plus meetings


Sponsorship / Donations Chair
2013-2014: Open
Specific Role Requirements

  • Works with Business Development and Corporate Liaison chair to develop sponsorship program
  • Works with local businesses to foster one-time and ongoing event underwriting and direct donations to AWC
  • Develops and maintains sponsorship cost structure and benefits
  • Develops marketing and informational materials to support sponsorship program
  • Garners/fosters sponsorship of the organization and specific events
  • Creates relationships with the community
  • Represents AWC to general public and promotes AWC

Skills: Good ties to the Puget Sound IT community; business relationship development experience; experience serving on a non-profit or professional organization board

Time commitment: 2 to 4 hours/month plus meetings


Job Network and Career / Recruiting Liaison
2013-2014: Open
Specific Role Requirements

  • Manage job postings and Jobs Network area on AWC web site
  • Fosters and maintains relationships with recruiters and invites recruiters to meetingssp
  • Develops AWC as a source of local, high caliber IT talent for Puget Sound companies
  • Works with Education Outreach/Youth IT to discover and network internships
  • Organizes job fairs

Skills: Good contacts and reputation in the Puget Sound IT community; solid ties to recruiters and hiring manager; good communicator

Time commitment: 4 to 6 hours/month + meeting


Educational Outreach / Youth IT Liaison
2013-2014: Open
Specific Role Requirements

  • Liaises with schools, promotes student membership and benefits, works with corporate liaison to develop local internships
  • Collaborates with the Scholarship chair on the annual AWC scholarship program
  • Collaborates with Programs chair to look for student or youth topics

Skills: Solid ties to the Puget Sound educational community; good planning skills; good communication skills

Time commitment: 2 to 4 hours/month plus meetings


Programs Associate and Events Planning
2013-2014: Open
Specific Role Requirements

  • Supports and coordinates with the Programs VP on monthly program planning and special events.
  • Bring the projector, and make sure the projector, screen, audio and video are functioning at the dinner meeting.
  • Order food and make arrangements for its delivery for each meeting
  • Work with board to secure venue for each dinner meeting

Skills: Event planning or project management experience, detail-oriented; good ties to venue organizations and catering organizations

Time commitment: 4 to 6 hours/month plus meetings
