Do you want to encourage women to enter and stay in technology careers? If so, please consider volunteering for AWC. We have volunteer positions that will fit your schedule. Contact Lynne Reynolds for more information.
Scholarship awards are made in memory of Donnafaye Carroll, a co-founder of the Puget Sound Chapter of the Association for Women in Computing. These awards were offered in memory of her work to help women further their education in computing. From 2010-2015, AWC/PS provided $1000 scholarships to two women pursuing a computing related degree in a Puget Sound area college. Each woman also received a one-year membership to AWC/PS. The AWC/PS Board of Directors selected the scholarship recipient based on academic performance and merit. In late 2015, the AWC Board decided to redirect our energies toward providing college students with internships.
Our transition from scholarships to internships was based on our desire to provide women with hands-on experiences that can use to build their portfolio. Our first intern completed her assignment, and she was hired for a job in the field. Later in 2016, we will be offering an additional (paid)internship.
